Holidays should be relaxing

...but they aren't. As a result of a brief roadtrip then a load of image editing work, I've been a bit out of the loop this week, so as much for my own benefit as anything else, here's some stuff.

I don't know why, but the way that video was edited sort of made it seem like as a viewer, I was being punished for something. In related 'music I didn't like' editing news, Ride US posted a 2 week old video on their site that featured literally the worst song I've ever heard - which was in fact so bad I'm not posting it here - but it did lead me to seeing this video of Hoang Tran on Vimeo after I did a bit of lurking on Subrosa's channel. Hefty.



Another Vimeo find was this edit of Bruno Hoffmann. The guy's ridiculous.

FBM sort of re-posted the Tom Blyth web-edit that came out late last year. It's an awesome vid, and it'd be rude not to re-post it, so here it is!



Speaking of old videos, this is 4 days or so old but I only got a chance to watch it yesterday. You've no doubt seen it elsewhere, but... well... handle it, I guess. From Mutiny.



It's always kinda seemed to me that Lotek had the fashion kinda riders, but Vans had the awesome, under-rated riders. This video goes some way to proving that - the second part of their Cali Bro tour. Pretty long, might wanna load this beaut up for a bit first.



I know what you're thinking - rain, in the North East? Best believe. Here's a vid from some people I'd not really heard of before in this guise, the TuWheelsCo. Bit of a roadtrip edit, featuring some intriguing spots!



Lastly, just saw this over on Dig - Tonash Goodyear's edit of the building of the Nike 6.0 Tunnel Jam. Really nicely filmed and edited with a pretty cool tune - not much in the way of riding, but those three plus points outweigh that!

In semi-related news, I once stripped a Tierra frame. It took a lot of time because it had apparently been comprised mainly of powdercoat rather than good old fashioned steel. Well, last night, I decided to strip my haggard looking A2B frame. 3 hours. 3 damn long hours of Nitromors and wire wool/brushes. That was some thick paint, and the rust-proofing didn't help much either.

Not worth it.

In non-video news, in my brief hiatus from the BMX world, I'd sort of forgotten how incredibly ridiculous the internet BMX drama scene is. From people involved with magazines making unintentionally (but brutally) ironic statements to people fabricating 'issues' with other riders, it's something I'd not missed. This video was up on TCU, where the video was followed by 'I foresee this getting a lot of negative comments' - it just makes you wonder what people really have going on with their lives if they've got time for stuff like that... Anyway, this video's got some pretty rad riding in it. Yes, it's goof, and yes, it's not filmed that well, but the video's still pretty sweet.



Lastly, 'cos I'm going to be late for dropping the kids off at the pool if I hang around much longer, FBM have some new products that you can view by clicking on that there link...

Seeing frames like this makes me want a nice, high quality, hand-made frame with a sweet clear-coat over it. I mean, just look at it. Awesome.

While we're talking FBM, Tom Blyth has some cool blog posts up. Few and far between, but interesting nonetheless.
Duffs (Or is that "DuFFS™"?) have their autumn/winter line up. Goes without saying that some are far, far nicer than others - make your own mind up!

Photobucket is officially the worst online image sharing site around. There, I said it. As a result of it's feeble layout, I can't post the actual flyer, but I can tell you that the next P5 jam is going to be at BRISTOL on the 6th September. Be there or be square!

The BMXFU video's been getting slowly uploaded by Charlie Crumlish for the past few days/week. I watched this video around a friend's house, and man, it is long. I don't mean that in a good way either - it's probably one of the longest BMX DVDs I've seen in recent times. The 'skip' button got rinsed fairly heavily, so I can't really remember in my head which sections were good and which weren't. Despite being reasonably anti-park on a personal level, I still really like watching Harry Main ride. He's certainly pounding out the footjam variations these days, but that's not all he does in fairness to him. Jeremiah Smith also has some line-age in here too.

It's been a while...

Can't wait to see the viewing slump for the past few days! Come baaaack. I've legitimately been busy - uni work over the weekend, then two days in London handing it in. 96 hours. 7 hours on trains. 16 hours of sleep. Too many hours on trains: not enough hours asleep. As a result, I'm finding this typing gig pretty hard, and actually had to use calculator to work out how many hours there were in 4 days.

Anyway, from what I can tell:

They Ain't Ready put up a web-edit which was basically a 3 minute intro to a ridiculous Kareem Williams spot shut-down edit. However, they've done the whole "Not going to let you embed it unless you go to Vimeo and mess around" thing, and I fully don't have the mental capability to tackle that problem now. I don't see how people think doing this benefits them at all. The whole point of web-videos is their ease of distribution - showing the world what's up with you and your friends. If you don't want other people to see it, don't put it online. If you do, why put petty little hurdles in the way for people to distribute it? No sense at all.

FBM have a double-DVD kinda thing coming out from what I can tell, here's a trailer!

New stuff time - firstly, the new Wave 3? Apparently so, according to TheComeUp. Seeing that tubing always reminds me how nice home-made crinkle-cut chips are...

Edit: According to Jim C, this is a prototype Funday with a different kind of toptube. Apparently that's not the only new feature on it.



Secondly, FBM have launched the rest of their 2010 completes - go here to see them. This is the Marauder, which looks sweeeeeet!

Removeable brake mounts, "Signature" tyres, Pivotal seating setups, etc. - these are just some of the reasons that completes are so awesome these days, and they all happen to be on the new FBM Marauder V2. According to their site it won't be out for a while, but damn, that's a sweet looking setup!

Hello again.

Yeah, been a while. This weekend was full of riding, fun times and general merriment, none of which involved online things, so not much blog activitititititity.

A quick look at the BMX fashion forecast: Headbands are still in, and ETs are most definitely on their way in. Couple cut-off skinny jeans, a headband and an ET and you're set for this summer's look. Unrelated to that but related to the video - I've been so tempted to grab a hang-5er's rear peg before, but I knew that would happen. I'm too nice.



Tim tells me I've been overly harsh recently, so I'll try and tone it down.

Anyways, Luke Peeters (With 3 E's) is now on United, as is Boiski. However, Boiski didn't get a 'Welcome to the Team' edit - favouritism!



Apparently they have bios and stuff on the United site, but I didn't really care enough to find out. I'm sure 90% of the Internet's word is true enough.

Shadow have some new clothing out, go check it on their site in some flip-book somewhere (They're still not good - even Russ agrees!).

FBM inform me that Mickey Marshall is no longer riding for them, they have a new Exodus prototype (Ironically named - fair play for that!), and that people around the world are still willing to put the time in to make awesome birthday cakes:



For those of you who can't imagine what a crinkly tube looks like inside (Kinda like the outside, but inside), Sunday have the answer!

Shola have some proto fork photos up (In conjunction with Brucey/KHE? Who knows) - that logo's dangerously close to the edge of the bottom of the steerer tube bit? (Tech term.)



Dig have been utterly pounding the Facebook News Feed today, which happened to include this gem - the Tom Blyth Sturdy Wrists. Old Dig is rad, film is rad, Tom B is rad. Rad^3!

Dennis Enarson has a Day In The Life Of video up somewhere, but I have almost no idea where I watched it or even what player it was on. All I can remember is he lives pretty close to the Mexican border, enjoys eating Mexican food, had a shoulder surgery the day after the riding was filmed, and looks exactly like both of his parents. I suppose in a way that's all you need to know?

On my 'Quick last check!' BMX news scour, happened to stumble upon this video of Mark Mulville - always a pleasure, never a chore.

The Federal blog is now up on BMXFeed, meaning I got the chance to see this Dan Cox updated bio with the greatest of ease.

Similarly, there's this rad update on FBM. Being able to make whatever frame you want has gotta be pretty damn awesome.

Dig, Mutiny, WTP, etc...

First up was the most shocking bit of news today (Well, I say "shocking", the world hasn't exactly stopped spinning) - Morgan Wade is off Mutiny. I guess it kinda makes sense with how their team's shaping up, but still, he's been there for 8 years which is a pretty long time. They've got a bit of text up on their site about it (click here for that), which essentially is a "Thanks dude!" "No, thanks to you!" thing.

Also on their site they mentioned their '08 Webvid - well worth a watch! Here it is in SB, click "HD" to go check out the... well, HD version of it on Vimeo.

In semi-related news, I hadn't noticed that a former editor and a current editor (I think? Can't remember if he quit or not...) of the best BMX magazines out there (Obviously being Ride UK's Mark Noble and Dig's Brian Tunney) are now both writers for EXPN/ESPN. Considering Dig's take on 'big brands' and the past EXPN comps, seems a bit of a change in tune. Still, times change 'n' all that. Anyways, Mark Noble's put out a pretty cool piece called "The Noble Piece Prize" where he talks to Jay Miron about Pivotals and the like. Next up is George French, apparently. It's been a while since there's been much new product info type biz around, seems like everyone spent themselves at Interbike... Anyways, here's some stuffs.

I was checking out the sweet FBM blog today and happened to spot the preview of their updated Crown Royal stem, and their new 7075 sprockets. Check 'em out!



Mutiny have updated the Loosefer for '09, and have a little .gif file on their site and product info - click here for that.

You'd have thought with keeping Eclat's new product range running and getting their '09 product out there WTP would've slowed down prototyping of stuff for their own parts range - but not so. Here's a glimpse of their new "skewer" front hub:

Lavar have been under the radar for a while now, but are still continuing to make really nice quality T's that are firmly in the standard Mark T-shirt Rotation System. Bonedave also reminded me about this on *cough*Facebook*ahem* yesterday, but I apparently brought about the recent snow storms in the UK by suggesting that the rubbish winter weather might be over. I can't really begin to apologise enough for doing that - but it's potentially not raining here at the moment so I might dust my bike off and ride it for the first time in over a week. (Edit: It's literally just started snowing again. I hate you, weather.)

Really nicely filmed (Looks great in HD too), nicely edited, and some ridiculous riding from all of 'em ('specially Tom Blyth - if I don't ride for a week I feel rusty as hell, he's out for months and months, and comes back like that?!).
