New Seventies Blog

Looks like the guys at Seventies are finally putting their website to good use. Check out their new blog at www.seventies.co.uk

Here's some choice bits that I have nicked highlighted...

There's a new extreme sports facility being built in Aberdeen. Ok, it's a bit far to go from Pijin HQ but the pictures I've seen are so awesome it looks like its gonna be worth the trip! www.transition-extreme.com

Ryan Sher has started a new company called Subrosa. Their Pandora frame is looking very nice (and light too at 4.8lb). subrosabrand.blogspot.com

Morgan Wade clip. Mr Bones of steel. Just how does he manage to get up and walk away from all those slams?

Thanks Seventies!

18lbs...

It's been almost 3 years since I bought my last copy of BMX Plus. I could never find it anywhere except for this little tatty Newsagent in Twyford where I used to work. Since moving away from Twyford, I've never seen it anywhere else... until recently. I was a little surprised to see it in Borders bookshop (West Quay Retail Park) a few months ago but it wasn't enough to make me part with 325 of my hard earned pennies. Well, that was until the latest issue. I think the April 2007 cover says it all - "18lbs. Lightest free style bike ever!" And yes, I did say April 2007. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Americans are one month ahead of everybody else I think...

The scary thing is that it could be even lighter! They could replace the Alex Supra B rims, have ti spokes and a ti driver in the cassette hub, some flatland tubes and get rid of the Primo e-brake... and they think the weight would be 16lb 13oz! Laala laaa...

Affordable Kink?

Kink have always been the premium among premium among American BMX brands. Want a Kink frame? Cost you an arm and a leg! Kink have a new KC Badger signature frame in the works named 'The Flying Dutchman'. Don't know the exact price of it yet but its going to be a lot more affordable! Following in the footsteps of some of the other American companies out there, production of this frame has moved to Taiwan. Hopefully, this will mean the frame will only cost 1/2 as much as the American made equivalent. I think I can put up with a 'made in Taiwan' sticker after all...

On the subject of cheaper manufacturing... this appeared on the bikeguide forum the other day - www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYs_i93tjGk. Look out for the wheel building machines (around 7 minutes into the video) - they're amazing! If only I could build wheels that quick...

943WEBvideo.

Our Dorset friends Shindig made this awesome lil video. Still can't figure out why it's called 943? *scratches head*. Answers on a postcard please...

And this is the weirdest stem I've seen since the elementary... The Drive twin I think.

Birthdays, birthdays and more birthdays...

Pretty manic week at Pijin. Seems like I've just about seen everybody come into the shop these last few days. Must be a combination of the following :
  • bad weather (let's go shopping rather than riding!)
  • end of the month (pay day!)
  • massive sale (silly frame prices!)
Was good to see all the Wickham lads about. Been busy building the new 12 bore trails (go add them on myspace www.myspace.com/trailbore) which are looking a bit good. All got very drunk apparently celebrating Netley's birthday last night! Alex and Will had just got tatooed up by Castle... Pictures below...

Lots of birthdays this month. Bonedave will be celebrating his by holding a private session at Motion next week. Slosh and J.P. share the same birthday which will be towards the end of the month. Happy Birthday guys!

And it was Dangerous Dave's birthday today too...
