Smorgasbord.

So, here we are again. Another big gap in posts, another load of videos that were cool.

First up, Chad Kerley - hadn't really heard of him before, but it appears he's pretty good! Certainly good enough for the-company-formerly-known-as-Nike-6.0 to hook him up, which is saying something.



Sticking with shoe companies - this is the crash edit from the Osiris trip I posted before. Again, half cabs = danger danger.



Tenuous shoe company related - thought Shaun Hadlington was still on Orchid, but who knows? Not me. Anyway, Shaun's got an amazing style that's even better to see in person. This is his section from Rain Dogs and it's got some rad lines in it.



Can I keep this up? Vans have fully put out their Vans/Cult collaboration shoes, and here is Vans/Cult rider Chase Hawk doing some cool moves in the ridiculously good looking new concrete park in Austin. As if they needed more to ride over there?!



Apparently I can keep it up - Alex Donnachie rode for Lotek in this year's RideToGlory (that magazine's out now, and is well worth checking out for the DVD alone. Some awesome stuff in there, all the edits rule!), but here he is in an edit for Mutiny.



Still going - Ben Lewis hit up the Etnies 'TF' whilst over on a visit with Fit, here's a self-confessed 'dodgy iPhone edit'. Ben's also in RTG and also does good stuff. Not that surprising...



Still on Etnies - Brian Kachinsky has a new shoe out, a variation of the Jameson 2. Fairly... er... 'interesting' looking. Here's a video explaination of it, and some standard hefty riding from him too.



...and that's about it, really. I'd sort of feel bad posting up non-shoe-sponsor-related stuff even though that just seemed to pop out of nowhere. Coffee time...

This is a new video of some old stuff - specifically Federal's team riding at Simpel Session. Some serious bidnaz going on.



Had to listen to this on mute so ended up skipping a lot of it, but it contains some quality Chase Hawk boost footage so that therefore makes it worth watching.

Right, so this might not work. I'll preface it with that.



Hopefully, what you can see above is the awesome 'zine that Rich Forne put together about the Dunkerque trip that I posted up yesterday. If the above doesn't work, hit up Mutiny's site. It's well worth reading!

You might notice as well how the video's really good to watch - nicely filmed, works really well together? Might also spot how the photos look cool too? Well, that's sort of what happens if you get people who specialise in doing things to do them. A while back BMX photographers started getting sort of replaced by just 'people with a camera', and it seems Vans are stepping it up with the new Let It Ride video "Bro cam project". I don't know if there's a seperate 'proper' video to go with this, but I'd certainly hope so. If not, maybe we should progress this whole idea along and stop frame designers and product engineers from doing new products, and just get people who can draw a semi-accurate picture of a BMX part to design them? I mean, you know, all it really is is drawing stuff, right?



Lastly, something I forgot to post yesterday - Kriss Kyle keeps getting better...

Yep, named this post after the first thing I saw.

I'm pretty sure when all the 2011 completes come out from all the different companies involved in BMX, once at least one of all the different models of bike on the market get sold the current amount of bikes in the world will double, if not treble. I mean seriously, millions of bikes. Stepping up to the "Whoa there, that's enough" plate are Sunday and Diamondback. Sunday made a little embedded player, Diamondback didn't, so you can view the Sundays here but have to go to DB's site to view their's.

Also in "New" news, the next issue of Cult is apparently out soon, although it seems to be going more down the 'corporate' (for want of a better word) route rather than the previous route (e.g. more photos of bike parts, less porn photos with "Grab ur pads, blow ur load" written over them).

In video news, Tom Davis is now on Sunday's UK team, and this is his obligatory 'welcome' video. S.Wales gets rinsed!



Another person in team switching news is Lil Jon, who's now on Kink Pro. Think I might've put this before, but smooth bowl riding = repeatable with no regrets on my side.



In complete contrast to these past two 'team business' videos is this BluntedAtheltics video.

Lastly, I've been sorta wanting to get a motorbike to mess around on for a while, and this video isn't helping that. Pretty artfag, but still, do want.

Anyways - it's NEW PRODUCT TUESDAY! A freshly invented title for the 7th September simply because there's new product ahoy. Interbike around the corner = show off your goods time.

First up, some 'fruity' gloves from Odyssey. They all laughed when Edison recorded sound, and they all laughed at the engineer hats that became mad popular, but ho ho ho - who's got the last laugh now? Well, probably Odyssey.



"That looks like their old sprocket!" I hear you cry - correct, that's because they made it that way for Chase Hawk's new sprocket.



I could type some kind of witty spiel for the new Aaron Ross tyre, but essentially the only thing anyone's really going to care about is the fact that it comes in 2.35", which is about this big:





Superstar (no, not that straight-out-the-catalogue UK company, the original rad French dudes) also have a load of new stuff coming out - click over to Ride US for more.

If, when watching this video, you start clapping your hands like a demented seal and making strange barking noises because this Vans edit has riding in a skatepark with DC logos in it: No-one cares. Just thought I'd clarify that. If you're watching someone ride street and they ride past a McDonalds, do you instantly start complaining that that's not an "[Insert sponsor name here]" video, that's a McDonalds video? Yeah yeah, competing companies, whatever - no-one cares. No, really. No-one.



Dude's got a nice style though regardless.

Speaking of "Nice style", Steven Hamilton used to have one, but now makes interesting blog posts. "Drama drama" rather than "Disguise disguise"?

Not much to say?

Although those shirts could spell out "HIPSTER" and be as relevant to the scene portrayed in it, it's still a pretty good concept and I'm still keen to see what Almond come up with. WeThePeople and Eclat are both awesome, so there's no reason Almond shouldn't be.

Speaking of shoes - Vans have consistently been the best things I've attached to my feet for the past few years, and - again - this combo with WeThePeople should also be good. Cup sole instead of vulcanised, but hey ho!

FBM sort of re-posted the Tom Blyth web-edit that came out late last year. It's an awesome vid, and it'd be rude not to re-post it, so here it is!



Speaking of old videos, this is 4 days or so old but I only got a chance to watch it yesterday. You've no doubt seen it elsewhere, but... well... handle it, I guess. From Mutiny.



It's always kinda seemed to me that Lotek had the fashion kinda riders, but Vans had the awesome, under-rated riders. This video goes some way to proving that - the second part of their Cali Bro tour. Pretty long, might wanna load this beaut up for a bit first.



I know what you're thinking - rain, in the North East? Best believe. Here's a vid from some people I'd not really heard of before in this guise, the TuWheelsCo. Bit of a roadtrip edit, featuring some intriguing spots!



Lastly, just saw this over on Dig - Tonash Goodyear's edit of the building of the Nike 6.0 Tunnel Jam. Really nicely filmed and edited with a pretty cool tune - not much in the way of riding, but those three plus points outweigh that!

Forgot to post this too, but it's good enough to warrant it's own post - the Vans Euro team riding some incredibly sunny and nice looking spots in California. Massively jealous, seeing as I'm about to go ride street in cold, dark Blackburn.

Well, tonight I was the second coldest I've ever been, and again it was related to BMX (First was in Leeds, filming for the Lorenzo Reid edit that came out years ago). Rampworx, lots of people, and not much fun. I really can't deal with indoor parks at all. Who tries to learn footjam whips on flat in the middle of one of the busiest parts of the park, then sits at the bottom of a roll-in to catch their breath? Really? Anyway...

Yet another post about Cult - I boshed a link up to their website earlier, but failed to point out all their swanky new product up on there. The frames look/sound pretty rad, it'll be interesting to see how they ultimately turn out. Here's one of them:



On my not-particularly-often-used Blogger feed, I happened to spot a new post from Nick Ferreira about the new AM:PM video. Here's the trailer, video's out now (theoretically!):



How awesome is this? Pretty damn awesome, that's how awesome. But seriously - it's really good! Some style cues from the recent Carhartt edit by Rich Forne maybe? In any case, if you haven't ridden in a pair of Half Cabs you haven't lived.



No doubt if you're a trails rider it's probably a little thin on the ground inspiration-wise at the moment - not exactly ideal digging conditions I'd imagine (not that I'd know?). Dig have put up another Refresh edit, this time a trails feature. Feast your eyes...



I hate just ending posts because it's kinda poor form, but I don't really have any more to say.

Teasers 'n' B-rolls?

Vans have done some tour (that I think they did updates for a while back, maybe?) that's now gonna be in RideUK next issue (In magazine news, Photo Issue of Dig out now - doesn't take a genius to work out there's probably going to be a reasonable amount of Ricky Adam shots in there, which means there's going to be a reasonable amount of awesome photos at the very least). There's going to be an 'exclusive' video on the Ride site when the issue drops, so sit tight. Plenty of big guns in it, watch out!



Everyone in the 'media' seems to be buzzing over Let's Get Mystical, but I'm not really convinced. It's reasonably good, but having watched it after watching Attention Stalybridge and The Wythenshawe Waltz and a few other awesome videos, it just seemed fairly protracted and most definitely more filler than killer. I can appreciate the more artsy sorta videos there, and definitely have no problem with them, but it just didn't really do it for me like Stoked On Being Pumped (ironically) did. Anyways, here's some B-roll stuff, which kinda gives you a reasonable taster of what it's like to watch.

Vans Let It Ride - pure drama?

Saw this up on Ride, where apparently someone disagreed with Ride saying they "Quite rightly" had posted it first, whereas Streetphire and Seventies had done it first? I knew this whole "More exclusive than thou" thing would probably go in this direction, and as I've said before, what's "Exclusive" about posting something first that's easily embeddable elsewhere? You Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V'd it before someone else? Who honestly cares? Being able to copy and paste it is nothing compared to the effort required to actually make it, so why not give credit where credit's due and congratulate the people out there making the content instead of everyone patting themselves on the back for being able to get the blog posts up first? Yet another case of the BMX media industry giving itself precedence over the photographers and filmers who generate the content that means that they can exist themselves. How incredibly surprising.

In case you were wondering, yes, I'm in a bad mood.

Anyway, here's the Let It Ride video. Ashley Charles messed his arm up before going on this trip, meaning that the only people left in it are people I don't really want to invest 5 minutes of my life watching ride right now. Some of you might, so again, get amongst it.
