Speaking of, not really anything style-wise in here, but these tricks are ridiculous. Stevie Churchill is pretty nuts. Bonus fact: That skatepark looks almost like my idea of a living hell. If you added a couple more scooter kids in there, you'd nail it.

Seeing as it's sort of related, here's a video of Bruno riding a prefab park pretty damn well.

So, it's been a while. Saw a bunch of cool stuff I didn't get a chance to post, so here's a sort of fragmented recap on things I thought were good/interesting.

ESPN had a bit of an Empire related frenzy this week (well, not really) - firstly a 'house check' with Chase Hawk showing how riding bicycle well can make you enough money to get amongst it in a piiiiimp apartment, and secondly with a catch-up with Tom from Empire about Dave Parrick who's currently throwing together the new Empire video. Confused? You will be. The last ESPN piece I was going to mention was this interview with Chase Dehart. Seems like a pretty straight-up kinda person which is good to see in this day and age. Seeing as that's a load of text-related posts which will interest about 2% of the readership of this blog, here's some moving pictures and sounds.

Kink are not only almost homeless, but are also in possession of some ridiculously talented riders. This video highlights this.



I spotted this over on Clicked who spotted it on Vinyl (which means, Mr. Anonymous Commenter from before, that I didn't 'just copy it from TCU or Vital'...). Clint Reynolds is one stylish dude, and is yet another reason to buy Anthem 2. Just saying.



Something that did come from TheComeUp is this - the intro to OSS "Football", and the first section by Mr. Rory Ellis. Tune! Very much looking forward to Craig Passero and Mastroni's sections in that.



Lastly, one for you filming geeks - a 1000fps edit that isn't someone nibbling a park. Bruno's got a crazy way of doing things!



Seeing as no-one (apart from Woozy) use it any more, it's mental seeing the embed code for Youtube now having been so used to the new slim-line Vimeo code.

Interesting to see how The Berrics Effect is hitting the BMX world though. I'm into it. Seeing as we're talking Seventies, Bruno Hoffmann is now on Federal having left WTP recently. I just realised I didn't actually mention that before, so apologies if that came as a shock. Some people seem to be super into all that side of things, so sorry for not breaking that to you gently. Hopefully this farewell edit will soothe the pain.

Because I don't exactly have the Pijin Blog Viewer Demographic Data to hand I don't really know how much you people like to read more full-on industry-tech stuff, but if - like me - you do, there's an interesting interview over on Ride US with John Povah about the future for Etnies. I think pretty much everyone who's ridden brakeless and has had to buy a pair of shoes has at some point though about how cool it'd be to have a dual compound brakeless shoe, and considering the amount of rider owned shoe companies out there I'm pretty amazed no-one's actually done it earlier. I guess it's a lot easier to snake Vans than having to come up with some totally new bits 'n' pieces... Anyway, biting aside, some cool stuff on show.

Remember a while back I said:

"A while back BMX photographers started getting sort of replaced by just 'people with a camera', and it seems Vans are stepping it up with the new Let It Ride video "Bro cam project". I don't know if there's a seperate 'proper' video to go with this, but I'd certainly hope so. If not, maybe we should progress this whole idea along and stop frame designers and product engineers from doing new products, and just get people who can draw a semi-accurate picture of a BMX part to design them? I mean, you know, all it really is is drawing stuff, right?"

Mind games...

You have no idea how confused I was then. Dig posted this video by Woozy of Stefan and Bruno. I was almost certain I'd seen it, so clicked onto the Youtube page to view it. Said it was uploaded today, which confused me even more. I was even able to remember which tricks were going to appear in it, so I did a bit more digging and was incredibly relieved when I found the original and realised it was almost 2 years old.

Still, it's pretty good!

BMX shoe company in "Doing things properly" shocker? Probably a fairly (and un-necessarily harsh) way of starting that, but hopefully it got you reading. WTP are awesome, Eclat is awesome, and as a result you'd expect their shoe company to be awesome. It certainly is, from the sounds of things. They were floating the idea for the company about, and bouncing ideas around, back when I was in Cologne 4 years ago - probably why their shoes appear to be pretty dialled and they're still not released yet. Doing things properly = all good.

Spotted this over on the Nice website earlier - an edit from a good few months ago of John Ivers. Watch this, then go check out some of Nice's products, and maybe some of Solid's too.



Cards on the table time - if I put a video up on here, it means I've watched it. I don't really see the point in just propogating mediocre videos so I usually, unless stated otherwise, watch everything and just try and put up things I think are good. I'll be totally honest and say that I haven't watched all of this video. In fact, I don't think I got past the 1min mark. It's from Motion, so that should give people who know me some kind of reason why (i.e. park footage), but I'm sure some of you out there will like it. The editing's pretty full-on, but no doubt once your eyes become accustomed to it it should be fine.

Holidays should be relaxing

...but they aren't. As a result of a brief roadtrip then a load of image editing work, I've been a bit out of the loop this week, so as much for my own benefit as anything else, here's some stuff.

I don't know why, but the way that video was edited sort of made it seem like as a viewer, I was being punished for something. In related 'music I didn't like' editing news, Ride US posted a 2 week old video on their site that featured literally the worst song I've ever heard - which was in fact so bad I'm not posting it here - but it did lead me to seeing this video of Hoang Tran on Vimeo after I did a bit of lurking on Subrosa's channel. Hefty.



Another Vimeo find was this edit of Bruno Hoffmann. The guy's ridiculous.



Very much lastly because I'm tired of this screen, go to LeastMost, read an interview about it, then watch I Love My Bicycle. Most definitely worth it.

This came last in the Nike 6.0 Barcelona comp. How?! If this is the worst thing they received for that comp, first place has got to be mental...

Not much to say?

Although those shirts could spell out "HIPSTER" and be as relevant to the scene portrayed in it, it's still a pretty good concept and I'm still keen to see what Almond come up with. WeThePeople and Eclat are both awesome, so there's no reason Almond shouldn't be.

Speaking of shoes - Vans have consistently been the best things I've attached to my feet for the past few years, and - again - this combo with WeThePeople should also be good. Cup sole instead of vulcanised, but hey ho!

FBM sort of re-posted the Tom Blyth web-edit that came out late last year. It's an awesome vid, and it'd be rude not to re-post it, so here it is!



Speaking of old videos, this is 4 days or so old but I only got a chance to watch it yesterday. You've no doubt seen it elsewhere, but... well... handle it, I guess. From Mutiny.



It's always kinda seemed to me that Lotek had the fashion kinda riders, but Vans had the awesome, under-rated riders. This video goes some way to proving that - the second part of their Cali Bro tour. Pretty long, might wanna load this beaut up for a bit first.



I know what you're thinking - rain, in the North East? Best believe. Here's a vid from some people I'd not really heard of before in this guise, the TuWheelsCo. Bit of a roadtrip edit, featuring some intriguing spots!



Lastly, just saw this over on Dig - Tonash Goodyear's edit of the building of the Nike 6.0 Tunnel Jam. Really nicely filmed and edited with a pretty cool tune - not much in the way of riding, but those three plus points outweigh that!

First up is a video by Miles Rogoish of the Worlds. Can see how it'd be annoying for someone to not wear a helmet after being told, but getting "The Heavies" out to try and lay down the law seems ridiculous. Otherwise, some awesome riding!

Seeeeecondly, this features the best skater snake I've seen in some time, and bearing in mind I live right next to a busy skatepark now, that's saying something. I like to think of that as being part of the justice I still need to hand out to the skaters at a certain concrete skatepark in London. Snaked 4 times riding the bowl once. Do one!

I think the word I used to describe the last trick in this video was "Pyoooaaar". No joke. Either way, comes from Ride - it's the shoot for the Benny L interview that's in the mag. It's actually out now, and the magazine in general is pretty worth reading.

It's weird - when I first started buying (Well, reading, 'cos I used to tax them off Dan) BMX magazines years and years ago, whenever there was talk of the X-Games they were generally seen as this big, awful corporate affair. It's was generally in a fairly negative light, and they were definitely considered the riding choice for those who were more interested in chasing the American pro park rat lifestyle rather than so-called 'legit' riders. Interesting how that's turned round these days - for the most part. Pretty cool video of Nigel and Garrett either way!
