Mike Escamilla has been there, done that, and received a plethora of T-shirts over the years. This is his latest video part, and if - like me - you were initially a little skeptical about how much you really wanted to watch it, it's definitely worth clicking over to and checking out. Some rad stuff in it! Click 'ere maaaaate.

Comparison...

A commenter on TheComeUp described the second part as "kinda berrics-ish" which is sort of the same as saying that Bill Gates is "kinda rich-ish", but in spite of that it's still a pretty cool video.



This got posted up yesterday, but still - Jeff Koscis is really, really good. This is some relatively old footage (from Don't Quit Your Day Job 2), but it still seems pretty modern just 'cos of the techedy tech-ness of it. The world needs more up to date Jeff Koscis footage.

Spring videos?

Well, it's now March which sort of means it has to be Spring, but Coalition have just released their Spring edit so that seals the deal.

Cool Video Tuesday?

It just doesn't have that same ring to it, but hey ho, cool videos are cool videos.

As a bit of serious business first, I've had a couple of people ask me if Dan's alright - as some of you may know, there've been some pretty serious earthquakes over in Christchurch in NZ where Dan's living these days. We got a call at about 3am saying that he's alright and his friends are all safe too, so that's all good to hear.

SRS BZNZ aside, here's some more up-beat stuff. Dakota Roche is an animal. In case the massiv array of logos doesn't give it away, he's also got the hook-up from Monster. He's also got pop!



Next up are a couple of "Exclusives" - some pretty entertaining comments in the chat section for The Make Winter 2011 video that appeared on TheComeUp yesterday. Some awesome riding from some super good but pretty under the radar people. Always a nice combo.

This is a bit of a contrast in many ways but not in a bad way. Chris Childs over on Defgrip.

And as yet another contrast - although mainly to the whole of the BMX scene these days - here's Mike Brennan from DQYDJ2, thanks to Animal.

Tunney vision?

It's almost a Tunney Tuesday (although it isn't in that this was all posted on Monday, I'm just posting it on a Tuesday 'cos I had loads to do today) - Defgrip got together with ex-Dig/current-ESPN writer, rider and general font of knowledge Brian Tunney to create one of the more interesting BMX-related interviews I've read online. Click here to read through it, here for Brian's 'personal' site, and here for his predictions for 2011. There aren't that many people out there who have been as involved in all levels of BMX as Tunney has over such a sustained period of time, so it gives things a little more depth and interest compared to the usual lashed together Q&A type stuff with whoever happens to be flavour of the month that appears on various sites from time to time.

Ever since I first got linked to an old episode of Buttery Ass Mondays I've been pretty much hooked on TheBerrics, so it's interesting to see a video from Cult filmed in there. It's weird not seeing the setup being filmed in the usual Berrics style, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Some cool lines go down and everyone appears to be having a fun time which is what it's all about. Seeing a car/van full of 'big name pros' getting so visibly excited about going and riding somewhere is good to see, at least they're appreciating the opportunity!



One person who very much appreciated the benefits of being a 'pro' rider - to the extent where he stepped down from the pro team as he apparently didn't feel able to live up to his side of things due to his study commitments (you can read an interview with him here about it, and also get to see a super nice photo of a rail-ride to whip) - was and is Eli Platt, who's section from the Into The Void video went up today. He's also got some choice clips in Anthem II, don'tcha know.

"Wah wah"

If you're not a fan of videos that aren't a total, back-to-back string of massive bangers, you are not going to be a fan of this post. Some slightly 'different' videos today, starting with the video I watched every day for about a month after I first got it, the Train Trip video that appeared on a copy of Dig (Issue 79 out now!) I got ages ago. There's actually a cool little write-up on Mike O's Blog about it, so check that out while you wait for the video to load!



While we're talking Joe Rich, he currently has a bike-check up on T-1's site.

Continuing the cool videos theme, This Is United is ridonkulous, and if you haven't seen it yet you're letting yourself down spectacularly. Call the shop and get amongst it. James Cox was the man at the helm, and he's got a pretty lengthy video interview up courtesy of BMXMDB. I rode with James just after he'd first quit his job to work for 4Down, and it's amazing to see how he's gone from what his situation was back then to what he's doing these days. Anyone who gives you a load of sweets 'for the road' is a rad dude in my book, and James fully qualifies for that.



While James was pretty awake and alert for that video, Nathan Williams isn't for this fairly weird interview with Dakota Roche.



Continuing the weird video vibe, TheKinkHouse have this edit of Aaron Smith showing his room setup, then a bit of riding at the end as a bonus.



Totally different, and more focussed on the riding is the last of SkullCandy and their "3 days in the desert" video. Some really good stuff in this, interesting to see people making the most of some pretty unusual (but pretty awesome!) spots.



...and with that, I'm off to put a new air filter in my car. Head torches = the best.

I have a feeling I neglected to post this when it originally dropped, but hey ho - the new Get Used To It video looks like it should be pretty cool:



Speaking of 'pretty cool', Pete's reply of "Take a hike, Spielberg" to a negative commenter on TheComeUp is definitely one of the best rebuttals I've seen on a BMX site. While I'm talking about TheComeUp, those BallParkFranks adverts need to go. I've got about 12 tabs open at the moment, so the race to find which tab was randomly autoplaying Dave Mirra talking about things I don't care about wasn't much fun. That's not even mentioning the massive skating adverts all round the page too. Matador nailing that targeted advertising. Oh, wait...

This was up a while ago, but it got re-posted by Cult and is worth watching again.



This is a Caleb Quanbeck video which obviously means it's going to contain at least one ridiculous nose manual, but this one luckily contains two.



Having been stuck in bed the past few days, I'm going to go and resume my marathon BBC iPlayer session. Woke at 8am, watched the end of the F1, watched the end of the MotoGP, then smashed through the Commonwealth Games coverage. I am so bored.

Understatement?

Do I really need to tell you how good this Cult Interbike promo is? Didn't think so...

Ben Green has more fingers in more pies than the entire workforce of Greggs. Latest project from him is spelling-nazi-hated Purpl. Bit different to everything else out there which is pretty much the aim of the game. There's a Boiski edit up on there too to lure you in...

Amity had a pretty fun-looking trip to Portugal that'll make you resent the on-coming winter just that little bit more:

Credit where credit's due...

Yawn have posted up a sorta walk-through thing with Cult that's a surprisingly good watch. Some interesting stuff about the company, some cool products and then some really good riding at the end. Pretty ideal advert, really?



Definitely a fan of Cult - loved the 'zine originally, the DVD is awesome, their stuff looks good and seems to work well. What's not to love?

Speaking of Cult - they themselves put up a spy-shot sorta photo of a possible Cult complete. Pretty rapid progression from bits 'n' pieces to a complete in that space of time, but I guess they've got the experience to know what they're doing.



Cleggy's one of the soundest riders I've had the fortune to meet from way back when I met him in London years ago to seeing him out and about in Leeds - his shop team from Notion have been on a bit of a jolly round the UK and it led to this video being created.



Lastly, some sour news about Scott Hamlin - apparently a sub-box double peg gone awry led to a pretty serious tumble ending up with a cracked pelvis, a broken shoulder, a broken foot and a broken bone in his lower back. I know they say "if a job's worth doing..." and all that, but seriously dude - no need to go that far! Get well soon in any case.

BMX shoe company in "Doing things properly" shocker? Probably a fairly (and un-necessarily harsh) way of starting that, but hopefully it got you reading. WTP are awesome, Eclat is awesome, and as a result you'd expect their shoe company to be awesome. It certainly is, from the sounds of things. They were floating the idea for the company about, and bouncing ideas around, back when I was in Cologne 4 years ago - probably why their shoes appear to be pretty dialled and they're still not released yet. Doing things properly = all good.

Spotted this over on the Nice website earlier - an edit from a good few months ago of John Ivers. Watch this, then go check out some of Nice's products, and maybe some of Solid's too.



Cards on the table time - if I put a video up on here, it means I've watched it. I don't really see the point in just propogating mediocre videos so I usually, unless stated otherwise, watch everything and just try and put up things I think are good. I'll be totally honest and say that I haven't watched all of this video. In fact, I don't think I got past the 1min mark. It's from Motion, so that should give people who know me some kind of reason why (i.e. park footage), but I'm sure some of you out there will like it. The editing's pretty full-on, but no doubt once your eyes become accustomed to it it should be fine.

Apparently the world is out to get me today - from the guy complaining about us being parked perfectly legally while he was ironically illegally parked to the person giving me hassle for an item I'm selling online, even down to the guy who got his dog lost down a hole on the face of a cliff next to a pump-track I was riding meaning that I had the constant, off-putting noise of a scared dog whimpering - today's been one of those days.

Fortunately, Cult have re-vamped their website and put some new videos up. Winners! Dakota Roche is ridiculous.



Alex Kennedy also has a new Cult edit up which is equally cool. All about the nollie can - techedy tech! Good to see someone thinking outside the box rather than trying to work out how many E.T.s they can do off something...

As a side note, it amuses me that people seem to be riled over the fact Dakota Roche is now riding for Vans instead of Lotek (when Lotek themselves copied several models of Vans shoes in the first place?), and also that Dakota Roche drinks at Starbucks. Businesses don't become globally successful for no reason.

I am ravenous, so this is going to be necessarily brief.

I could watch Steven Hamilton videos all day, and in my youth I have done. However, I don't remember watching this before until it flashed up on Dig today. From The Day Is Over, some amazing riding that's 6 years old but almost everyone reading this would be really happy to have done themselves. (EDIT: Apparently this was originally uploaded by Federal, so kudos to them)

Conflict of interest?

Interesting how a company can link to videos like Zeitgeist and stuff like that with some fairly outwardly religious dudes on their team. Probably reading too much into that... but yeah, I'm still pretty interested to see how it all works out in the long run. Into Adam Roye's graphics and the like, and it seems to be a bit different to the 'normal' BMX company vibe which can only be a good thing. Saw this on TCU anyway:

Webvid Day?

So, couple of videos up today. First off, Dakota Roche has banged out an edit at a park in the US of A for Cult. In related news, turns out the Cult 'zine is still going, which rules!



Ashley Charles quite often seems to get overlooked by people as he's not a big, in your face sponsored pro dude, but he's still ridiculously good. I mean, just watch this video. Winner. This was for Eclat.



UK street, aw yeah. This is a 'To Flat' edit from the P5/Dub street jam in London (although technically Scotty D doesn't really go 'to flat' on that ledge ride...), which features an ender that was featured as an ender for the old Carhartt jam from years ago. Still a ridiculous trick though, you really have to go there to get an idea of how gigantic that set is, and how bad the run-out is.
