Finally, Blogger works again!

To quote me from a few days ago:


I think I'm now the only person involved in BMX who isn't at The Pool, but bills needs paying and work needs doing. The final stages have been revealed, and the setup looks absolutely nuts. Head over to Defgrip where they've done the hard work so I don't have to, haha.

As a bit of a warm-up for watching some Dennis Enarson footage, here's a video from his recent trip to The Caribbean with a bunch of other dudes that ultimately ended up being covered by Dig in the form of an article and this video.



In related "Dig videos and articles" news, here's an edit of Stefan Lantschner and Simone Barraco by Matty Lambert that featured as an article in the new Dig. I thought I'd seen this already and wasn't really into it so I sort of avoided watching it the past few days, then happened to check it out again now and realised that not only had I not seen it before, but it's also an awesome video.



Briefly heading back to the Defgrip theme, here's a cool feature with Darryl Tocco. The dude's got a point...

It still doesn't really seem right seeing a Props trailer without that music, but the riding in this is legitimately nuts. Could pretty much watch Garrett Reeves footage all day.



In a slight contrast (and you know I'm all about the contrasts), from the glitz and glamour of Props to the more down-to-earth scenes of London, Bristol and Sheffield, here's Marv's video "Fair play".



This is pretty up-to-the-minute - here's a fresh edit of practise from The Pool which is reinforcing my feelings of being disappointed I can't make it and also showing how nuts it's going to be. Should be interesting checking out the differences between those sticking to the jump-box and those riding the whole setup. Speaking of, Brian Foster is going to be riding, and also has a signature frame and a bunch of other stuff coming out through Fit.



In a move that's no doubt going to somehow become as needlessly controversial as the "Why are there only white riders on the 'Role Models' issue cover?" internet-fuelled debacle of a few years ago, Ride have dedicated their next issue to a UK scene check with a strap-line of "This Is England". Should hopefully be some cool stuff in it though, so as long as you keep your eyes off message boards and comment fields it should be hunky dory. Moving swiftly on to actual interesting riding stuff, here's Aaron Smith celebrating becoming a full part of the Demolition team by making a little welcome edit.

Seth Kimbrough has been awesome for what seems like forever, and it's cool to see how his style has adapted and changed over time. This video's got what I'd consider to not really be his usual sort of stuff in it, but it's fully awesome.

Season's Greetings...

Some pretty good Christmas treats came out yesterday from Sunday, Fly, and Subrosa. Sunday decided to get a whole load of Santa suits and everyone on their Pro and Flow teams (and even their company members) to get rad. As Jim C says:

“That’s right Santa gets rad! Well, maybe just everyone over here at Sunday gets rad in Santa suits. The whole main team, flow team and employees can be seen shredding in this video. This was such a fun video to make. People really love Santa. Numerous times random people stopped to get there photos taken with Santa, snap photos of Santa riding or just got a smile on there face because they got to see Santa. There was even a 4 year old boy who was so stoked to ride with Santa, who was played by Gary Young at the time. Everyone here at Sunday would like to wish you a merry Christmas and happy holiday!”



Fly's past few videos have been dece, and Tres is no different. Some great riding from a pretty wide selection of riders, you're almost guaranteed to find something you'll like (even some streety grindy-grindy action).



Just like she said, it's a lengthy beast so you might wanna grab some left-overs from yesterday, something to drink and full screen that beaut...

As an additional thing - after a bit of a lurk on the Fly site, I spotted this interview with Stefan Lantschner. Love watching him ride, and it's cool to get a bit more of a background. Some sweet videos on that page too, so go have an explore even if you're got the reading attention span of a foetus. As a side note - Stefan and Kevin Kalkoff had pretty much my 2 favourite sections in the whole video. Stefan's one of the only people I've ever seen hit Wapping wallride anywhere near as good as Joe Fox (who's got a cool interview in RideUK)), high praise indeed! Kevin K has also come on a lot in the past few videos I've seen of him. It's interesting how Fly's team have spread out/branched out now so they've got such a wide range of riders. All good.

Lahsaan Kobza has both a pretty amazing name, and now a contract for the Subrosa Pro team. All good. Defgrip have the exclusive.

Cool, so it's basically Christmas (somehow - doesn't feel like it?!), so hope you all have a good one.

As a potentially last post of the year (depending on how things go), here's a couple of recent video highlights.

Etnies team is really good, and in this video (click the link to view it) it really shows. Some awesome lines at some awesome spots with some awesome weather. Jealous.

Speaking of teams - Seamus McKeon is now on Subrosa's Skeleton Crew. Definitely deserves it, good to see innovative people getting rewarded (even if the song isn't as innovative as the riding (oh yeah, made a song-stealing reference (went there (brackets)))...



Whilst we're still mentioning teams, to make up for it seeming like they haven't had a new web-edit from their team riders in a while, Federal have put up a 'best of' Derek Strickland video.



And laaaastly, a secret session with Ben Murphy.

Context.

I'm typing this seated on a brand new office chair, sitting at a desk with my laptop, a proper mouse and mouse-mat, a digital typewriter, an external hard-drive, a massive dead moth that's staring at me and some turbo strength cold/flu medicine. Just thought I'd set that scene for you. Feels pretty pro...

Speaking of pro - the Rail Jam at Interbike is potentially the only real thing I'm going to post from Interbike in so much as it was the only thing that actually involved riding, and I'm very much more interested in that rather than more unimaginative parts. Some of the lines people do in this are about a million % more original and innovative than almost every part shown at Interbike this year. Vital had this video up - I don't want to put any spoilers, but damn... I really want to say how awesome it was to see some of the moves in there.



Speaking of things that are awesome - any Erik Elstran footage is good, and this video for The Set is no different. I'm keen on anything that's pretty much done purely to wind up people who deserve to be wound up, so if you find yourself recoiling in horror and heading over to TheComeUp to cry about the double 'giver' in this video, then you and I probably wouldn't get along.



In total contrast to that, most Etnies edits seem to be produced to try and appeal to as many people as possible and offend as few people as possible, and this video's not really much of an exception. That being said, there's some cool stuff in there.



Cult apparently had a promo they made to play at Interbike, so it should be cool seeing that when it drops for us 'normies' who didn't go to the Worst Place In The World just to look at some bicycle parts and watch Garrett Reynolds do a fakie nozzer down a ledge (Spoiler!), but The Trip have already put their promo video up. Pretty much a remix of their sweet 35min long 'promo' video from before, but still, worth watching:



Speaking of promos, I can't remember if I put this up before, and checking requires extensive clicking and looking so I'm not going to do that, but hopefully I didn't... Eclat's team is "Stacked" as they'd probably say on ESPN, and for good reason.

The new Ride (#135) is out sooooon, featuring one of the nicest cover photos (and indeed designs) in aaaaaaaages. Check it oot, to quote a Scottish colleague of mine.

Not content with releasing some photos of a bangin' looking Tierra, Fly have bobbed up some new photos of the Pantera frame. Looks pretty fly (InstantRimshot.com). Got some new Pantera bars too that are now 8.35" tall, and feature a non-kinky crossbar. Apparently Sergio learnt to work around a normal crossbar to get his no-handers done.



Precious little info on any geometry changes or anything, but hey ho.

The ever-interesting (for want of a better word) Miles Rogoish is now riding not just for fun, but also for Subrosa. Look, proof!

Dig put up another cool Refresh edit yesterday, some "Solid riding", as they say.




Chris Harrison's got a cool little "Rapid Response" thing over on Dig too.

I didn't really realise just how big the Fly team is, but yeah, pretty big! This is a cool edit of their whole crew riding the Worlds. Kevin K should've won the spine comp purely for dropping out the coping tyre slide thing, Taj style. I love those!



The controversial Mutant Bike company have another 'new idea' out, the peguard. Essentially, a peg with a built-in guard that appears to have a few flaws. The reasoning they give on the site such as "Hub guards are not simple to assemble and too large for its functionally" (Really? How?) and so on seems pretty debatable, and I'm fairly sure the lack of compatibility, limiting it's lifespan by having one point to grind on (Not the only peg like that, I know, but that doesn't make it good) and having a guard that could potentially bend upwards into the hub/spokes doesn't really count in it's favour either. I'm just still amazed that they're planning on releasing that frame with that seatpost setup (Apologies to the anonymous commenter who was unhappy I only listed 5 bad points with it, apparently that's not 'backing it up' enough)...



Don't get me wrong, some of their products are nice, but some of them just make no sense whatsoever.

RideUS are planning a follow-up to the awesomeness that was Insight, in the form of "Range Of Motion". To quote their release:
The Concept
Four riders who are well-rounded, able, and astounding on anything you put in front of them—Dennis Enarson, Tony Hamlin, Sergio Layos, and Dave Dillewaard.
Take those four riders on three trips focusing on each type of riding. Trip number one, a park trip up in the Great Northwest, has already gone down. A dirt trip up in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York is going on at this very moment. And a street trip along the California coast will go down about a month from now.
Now add in four more shredders on each trip that specialize, if you will, in what we’ll be riding that trip. Drew Bezanson, Simon Tabron, Darin Read, and newbie Ryan Wert went up to Oregon to ride cement. Cory Nastazio, Adam Baker, Mike “Hucker” Clark, and Luke Parslow are with us right now in the Northeast. And Aaron Ross, Garrett Reynolds, Sean Sexton, and Rob Wise will be with us in Cali.
