That's right - hot new footage from Vinyl of Chris Doyle taking an entire mouthful of another gentleman's banana.



You heard me.

Oh, and if you heard a mysterious shattering sound earlier, it was the sound of hundreds of Bikeguide member's hearts breaking when they found out Ben Ward left Odyssey. Hopefully their parents will keep them away from sharp objects in the foreseeable future.

Now some text - this time, courtesy of Jeff Z. I mentioned the awesome interview he did with Ian Schwartz for RideUS, and now the cool photos from that interview are up with a more up-to-date interview with Ian about his plans for the future. He's got some pretty interesting stuff to say, and as someone from a primarily farming community when I was young, it's interesting to read about someone who - like me - liked riding, but is now being drawn back there - unlike me. Well worth a read, and the photos are pretty amazing too (by everyone's standards too, not just 'Good for Ride US' which can sometimes be the case...).

Lastly, a video - this time from TCU from what I can tell, but it's featuring Bobby Simmons who's now on Cult. The guy's got an... interesting style. I kinda like it, but at the same time it's a little odd. Still, ch-ch-ch-ch-check it.

Behind the scenes.

I opened up BMXFeed to see what was up today. Spotted "TIMMY THEUS VINYL EDIT" in a few feeds, but then realised it was in Defgrip's feed so I was fairly sure it was worth checking out. Certainly was! In the same mould as Andrew Jackson (Click the tag below for similar edits!) and Jaumell Campbell - smooth as hell, nice tricks, ridiculously high hops - is Timmy Theus, Vinyl's latest featured matey.

Holy moly, I am tired. But before I expire, Tom Arkus has an interview up by Vinyl about his Sunday hookup, and some other stuff. Words, people, riding:



Daniel Dhers dropped out a new trick - the "Cash Roll". He mentions in this video that he was happy he pulled it, and looks forward to doing it again. That definition of 'pulled' is pretty loose. Interesting how he describes learning to do the trick though - pretty stark contrast to learning new stuff on, say, street or trails...

Harry Main has broken his leg, which sucks. This means yet another no-show for the apparently much anticipated live battle between Mark Webb and Harry. BMX: Serious business.

In other 'apparently' news, Scott Ditchburn is for some reason off Orchid and on Odessa? Weird move, maybe it's different on the other side of the fence...

Well, I ballsed that up... No love for Rampworx! Although I didn't really get much good stuff done for Nike it was still awesome meeting Will Smyth (Editor of Dig) and talking about zines, magazines and the internet, and also properly meeting Ricky Adam (Learnt a load from seeing how he dealt with everyone, all good!) instead of just bumping into his around the world. Big thanks to all the other filmers/photographers/riders, had a fun time even if I got all emo in the morning, haha.

Anyway, in BMX news:

Dan Boiski has a web-vid up for Animal UK, potentially another vid from the Animal UK team soon? So I hear, anyway. In related news, Boiski rules at riding ramp too. Was a treat seeing him ride Rampworx.

Cool stuff from the week.

Yet again, favourite things from the past week...

1. Re-discovering "Shinin'", that Fit web-vid. Hadn't seen it in a while, watched it again and remembered it's actually got some cool stuff in it. 6 months old too, web-vids have some longevity...

2. The new "Do The Test" road safety campaign. Might remember that one from before with the dancing bear and the basketball players? Well, there's a new one now...



Saw that on Style43, where I also saw...

3. ...some incredibly good deductive skills. The answer is 3 letters long, an abbreviation of Bicycle Motocross, which is naturally "BC".



4. It's not often I really get people talking to me about the ol' PijinBlog. Some people mention a video I posted up every now and again, and sutff like that, but the only person who ever really talks to me about it is Sam, who has now moved away from Southampton (Loser!). He'd recommended a video to me, and I'd forgotten about it entirely, so having been reminded by him at Newport about it, here it is! To quote Sam:

I've been a follower of vinyl for years, and it has been awesome to see them become so successful. It has always been one of my favourite websites, but the latest vid showcases Tom Arkus who has always put a whole lot of effort into bmx. He is in charge of the website, and has always promoted other riders and made efforts with media. I was pleased to see that he was rewarded for his efforts with a job at flybikes, but I thought it was awesome to finally see some more of his riding. Super fast, big airs and big doubles! Pundai is also a complete shredder!

5. Freedom always run cool comps and help out with cool stuff, and their Advent Jam was no exception. It's in German, but not super hard to work out the idea. Maybe an idea for Street Vs. Tweak next year? Speaking of, someone needs to step up to the plate and become Street Dave so we can get that show on the road again. Suggestions?



6. Spotted this in the comments of a post on TheComeUp, and having laughed at it quite hard thought it qualified for this. I have no idea at what point she thought this would be all that viable a solution, but her call I suppose.



7. The Andrew Jackson vid below this. I have no idea why I didn't just do this post then, or just add it all together to form one post, but there we are - we all make mistakes!

8. Christmas! Got the family thing to do, so I've gotta go pack my stuff up so I can head home to Wales to meet up with everyone, so you're all just going to have to make up 9 and 10 yourselves...

Lakai have one of the best ads ever on their site - on the main video player on their site, click on the little black and white "LUCAS" logo and watch that vid. Radness.

In more important news, Mike Aitken is continuing to improve. He actually left hospital yesterday, and there's a video from a local news show up.



It seemed weird how on the one hand, that video was pretty sad seeing how he is now compared to how he was in the 50:50 video, but then you realise just how far he's come since he was in a coma and it seems amazing that he's fought back that far. There's still obviously a long, long way to go, but here's hoping he pulls through 100%.
