So, it's X-Games weekend and we've already had the standard controversy about results. What seems strange is that it seems everyone's complaining about Daniel "Styleless" Dhers beating Dennis "Knows how to ride a bowl" Ennarson in Superpark, yet when Jamie "Knows how to ride a vert ramp super well" Bestwick beats trick ferrets people seem to complain about him winning 'yet again' just for going big, fast and smooth but not necessarily doing the most ground-breaking tricks. I don't really get that, but hey ho - here's a fairly boring video of people doing a lot of the same stuff on vert (as well as Jamie Bestwick going super high and super smooth), and some slightly more interesting stuff in the Superpark finals. You can theoretically watch the Street finals at midnight tonight here, but I'm not 100% sure that'll work...
Interesting how the most talked-about banger in the Vert category was that no-handed 900, last seen not that far off 10 years ago by a certain Mr. Hoffman. Progression...
For the record, I'm all about the lines and transfers Chase Hawk bangs out.

Compare and contrast...
One's a video from a major company showcasing the riding of some of the best known riders on the planet, with travel budgets, pro salaries, appearance fees, etc., and one's a lo-fi video filmed by some guy from Sheffield to document some riding with his friends. Interesting to see which one had the biggest effect on the BMX world though. I wish my copy of Voices still worked...
I can still pretty clearly remember getting home, seeing my copy of Voices had come then how it felt watching it for the first time. Game changer.

Keep it like a secret...
So yeah - last weekend was a banger, many thanks to Nike 6.0 and all the locals! Photos up soon...
X-Games is over - Garrett Reynolds won Street, Daniel Dhers won Park and Jamie Bestwick won Vert. Winners.
This is out of hand:
Scotty Cranmer is pretty good, as this video on FFWD shows.
Lastly - Almond have a new 'look book' (Or "Website" as they used to be known) to show off their new stuff. Some of their formatting is not so hot, but hey ho - some cool stuff in there anyway. Cue all the classic "That's just a Chukka!" or "That's just a TNT 2 Mid!" comments.

Screamer!
Yeah yeah, I know a lot of you don't like football, but damn - from yesterday's semi between the Netherlands and Uruguay. Top corner? You betcha.
Speaking of "top corner", if the spots in this video had to be described in a footballing analogy, I'd classify them as pretty top corner too. Van Homan and Scotty Cranmer doing things for Duo, which I spotted on the G-Sport site (which still has that awesome edit up from yesterday).
In that I don't really think that entirely copying a block of text a writer has created and then poaching the video too (in much the same way that if I did a website purely devoted to scanning pages of Dig and putting them online I'd imagine it'd ruffle a few feathers), I'm just going to link to the ESPN site where you can check out Tunney's write-up and Larry Rhodes' video yourself. It's Big Daddy - why wouldn't you (Answer: Because it was up a few days ago and I didn't spot it first time round, but you've already seen it)?
Gary Young is rad, as are the Tuesdays with Miles videos. Combo.
Lastly - the 2011 Deluxe Tech 2 frames are now in the UK, in a warehouse not too far from the shop as it happens. Deluxe do some good stuff, and if you're after a shiny new trails frame then you'd have to be somewhat of a tool not to check the Tech 2 out.

The quest continues...
In the battle to try and find a new, proprietary media player that refuses to work on the most platforms, and also have the worst interface, another player has stepped up to take on the might of BNQT and Ride US.
Seriously, Vimeo works really, really well already. On the plus side, at least there's not a 4-hour long intro and outro ad like on Freedom or Mpora?
Speaking of Ride US, this is on their style player - Garrett Reynolds at Simpel.
Gotta go, toodle pip!
