Speaking of 'awesome vids', there's some cool stuff from Purpl that I hadn't spotted previously, namely their "Purpl30" features with Dan Paley and Thomas Pratt - one features some cool riding, the other features some cool 'stuff'. Interesting range of content though, always a treat.





Totally unrelated, but inbetween writing the first bit of that and finding the embed codes, I watched the final of the The Battle At The Berrics and seeing Paul Rodriguez turn on God mode about 3/4 of the way through was out of hand. Shut-down!

Speaking of TheBerrics, and also BrightonAin'tReady (which we weren't, I suppose), Kink have created a new 'project' for themselves in the form of The Kink House. Essentially a brand specific version of B.A.R., it also gives Lloyd Wright an awesome opportunity to escape the winter and hit up Cali. Jealous?

California related is this video from Defgrip, feat. Timmy Theus and Kevin Porter. I appreciate the way that every time I see a K.P. edit he does something that I think would be pretty fun to learn. It's obviously not the be-all and end-all of content for web-edits or even riding in general, but it's nice to see instead of the usual "+1" school of riding-related thought.



Ben Lewis scored the latest Fit UK ad, and this is the Ride UK video about how it happened. I sincerely hope I never see another video with those type of transition/layered clips ever again. I mean that.



In total contrast to pretty much everything else in this (that's generally been about clean brand identities, warm sunny weather and all that sorta jazz), here's a video of Jersey riding his signature BSD frame up in Aberdeen. Barca and California it ain't, but he still gets the job done.



Lastly, before I go and try and clean some of the Nitromors burns from earlier frame-stripping, apparently I Wanna Live got 'leaked' online. I'd strongly recommend going and looking at how awesome some of the sections in that video are, then I'd recommend giving the shop a call and buying a copy, thus supporting the company that brought that video to you in the first place, the best BMX shop in the UK who are giving you the opportunity to own it, and also getting to enjoy what's a really, really good video in the quality it deserves. Pirate copies just aren't the same. I don't wanna get all "FACT" on you or anything, but it's cool being able to watch videos in the way they were intended. Also helps when your house-share happens to also comprise of a beasting flatscreen HD TV...

BMX TRICKS AND STUNTS, YO

I started off riding in a small, little town in Wales with nowt but a little mini-ramp, a 3-set and what could potentially be considered a flat-bank in so much as it's theoretically a bank, and isn't transitioned. Either way, it meant that we had to look at things differently when we were out riding to find stuff to do, so naturally seeing edits of people in roughly similar situations interest me. *Name removed for confidentiality* first e-mailed me a link to his friend's Youtube videos a while back, but then I actually got an e-mail off Joe himself with a link to a pair of new Vimeo videos. Some really creative riding here, proving that you don't have to live in a BMX fashion city to be able to put out a cool edit. Click here for his vimeo channel (Which has another vid on there).

In similar news, Eli Platt's quit Subrosa and Shadow to focus on uni. Fair play I guess, although my experience of uni hasn't exactly been favourable. Good to see him stand by his ideals though, Ride US have an interview up with him about it all. Shallow interview with a deep person.

Sunday have a new trailer up for Up, Up & Away, but it still won't make me buy it simply because I don't really want to spend money just to see the Ian Schwartz amazing double-section again. It's really good, but not good enough to buy for me. However, I'm told that I'm 'really negative' and that the video's 'sorta alright', so don't take my word for it. There's definitely some other good stuff on there, but we're pretty much talking better than Electronical (Not a challenge), but not as good as... say... That's It or I Wanna Live (Which most definitely is a challenge, because both those videos rule). I should probably also take this opportunity to point out how much I really want to see the new Empire video. So I will. I really want to see the new Empire video.

Oh, and S&M have some pics of their latest cash-cows on their news feed. Seeing as they're still sticking with their flash site, I can't deep-link to that page so you'll just have to either do battle with their site, or just take my word for it that you probably won't want a re-issued Holmes, you'd probably buy the Fit Shiv forks instead of the first "US-made tapered leg and integrated race" Pitchforks and that the seat (Which comes with Eclat-esque Pivotal adapter. Taiwan 1 - 0 Eclat) does it for me but won't do it for you. Just bear in mind I used to run race seats on my BMX 'cos I thought they looked cool - what would I know?

I am tired. That should also suggest to anyone offended by anything in here that they probably shouldn't take it personally. Getting my Kerouac steez on.

What the hell, Mark?

I know, I know - bold claims about consistent updates and less than 2 weeks into the New Year I've missed repeated daily deadlines. Well, I do have a reason/excuse - my friend's laptop died and he's borrowing mine to meet his slightly pressing coursework deadlines, so I'm netless. "But Mark", I hear you cry, "You're talking to us now?" Well, the answer to that is that I'm currently in Dan's house using his internet. But why have I chosen to be slightly antisocial and type on a computer whilst he's cooking chilli in the other room?

Three words:



I wasn't too sure what to expect from the new S&M vid. Please Kill Me didn't really do much for me, but their current team line up features rad dudes such as Randy Brown, Matt Beringer, Cam Wood, Tony Cardona, Josh Stricker and many more (Including the surprising good Jeff Landister (Spelling?)), and it was being edited by Jordan Utley, the guy behind That's It (Which you need to immediately buy if you haven't already, it's way, way too good). This combination is, to put it mildly, a winner.

I should probably preface this by saying that recently, I've been avoiding BMX videos in general. I've been riding a hell of a lot, and found that I'd much rather be actually partaking in riding rather than watching it, and have been doing as such. So yeah, the fact that I watched this video and thoroughly enjoyed it and was entertained by it says a lot. At the end of Cameron Wood's awesome section, the credits began to hand-roll (You need to watch it to understand), and I had to check the clock. I thought it had been a really short video, and it seemed kinda weird, but the video actually clocked in at 35 minutes of solid riding before you get to the credits section. That's a fairly decent amount of riding footage from one of the most diverse teams in BMX today, and it certainly passes quickly - in a good way.
